On Sunday 21st July our WM arranged for members of Howe Lodge and their partners to visit Stratford on Avon for a social outing. On arrival at Holy Trinity Church, the group were given a guided tour. We were shown the font where it is thought Shakespeare was christened and his gravestone by the altar.

The party then gathered at King Edwards old school and visited the classroom [still in use today] where Shakespeare was taught Latin and poetry. There was also a re-enactment of a typical lesson from the Elizabethan era with quill pens to attempt to write with.

Following a drink at the Shakespeare Hotel, we all sat down for an excellent meal  at Lambs Restaurant in Sheep Street.

A very enjoyable day and it is hoped to have a similar social outing each Summer  in future years.
